Judith Argent DipHE, RMN
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
Having initially trained as a general and mental health nurse, I managed an NHS behavioural psychotherapy in-patient unit at St Luke's Hospital in Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Health Trust.
20 years ago I undertook further training at Goldsmiths University leading to a diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) . Since then I have attended training in working with adolescents at The Oxford centre of Cognitive Therapy, completed training courses in using compassionate mind therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT) , Couples Therapy, Mindfulness and EMDR to treat trauma and also a wide range of other disorders.
In the past 18 years I have worked both within my private practice and also at the Priory Hospital North London.
Whilst working in The Priory Hospital North London I initially provided CBT for a wide variety of disorders within the general team offering both In patient and out patient therapy. Following this I managed The Eating Disorders Treatment Unit which involved setting up a CBT programme working with both clients and their families.
In the latter part of my employment at The Priory I was involved in working within a small specialist team providing CBT for young people and adults with severe Obsessive compulsive Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder and other obsessional disorders such as Health Anxiety and Vomit phobia.
I currently specialize in working with mild to severe Obsessive compulsive Disorders and other obsessional and anxiety related disorders.
I am qualified and experienced in working with young people who I feel greatly benefit from being taught to use compassionate mind and mindfulness skills to enable them to manage and control distressing emotions.
I have regular clinical supervision and attend frequent professional development courses/workshops.
